Teacher
Eszter Kuszenda started learning music as a child: she went to a specialist music primary and secondary school, played guitar for nine years, began private singing lessons at sixteen, and then trained in the performer programme of the Pesti Broadway Stúdió at the Budapest Operetta Theatre. She sang on cruise ships for eleven years: eight as a band frontwoman with AIDA Cruises, then three as a soloist in the TUI Cruises musical company. After Covid she completed the solo singing course at the Kőbányai Zenei Stúdió. Today she sings with the Endless River Pop Duo and the band Red Bug. She has been teaching for six years — in English as well as Hungarian.
Eszter's method
Eszter believes that you learn from constructive criticism and guidance — not from a teacher who just nods along and takes your money; to her, that would be unfair and unworthy of a teacher. In the first lesson she finds out where you are and what you want to achieve with your singing, and from there the two of you decide on the path ahead. She will give you all the help she can, but you will need patience and persistence too: nobody learns to sing overnight.
How a lesson goes
A lesson starts with a warm-up, followed by personalised exercises and work on a song. If you are a beginner, you will work on correct breathing, breath support and intonation, and you will learn the basics of healthy vocal technique and how to practise at home. If you already have some experience, the focus shifts to different vocal techniques, telling styles apart, stage presence, microphone technique and a professional performer's mindset.
Sixty or ninety minutes
A sixty-minute lesson has room for the warm-up, the exercises and work on one song. A ninety-minute lesson fits in more exercises, and leaves time to go deeper into the meaning, the performance and the style of the songs.
More than just singing
Working with a microphone is key for every performer — Eszter teaches that too. You explore the emotional depth of the songs, you always choose material that matches your level, and if you ask, you can record the songs that turn out best. If you would like to, you can also perform in front of an audience at a house concert in Száva Terem, with stage lighting and a real concert atmosphere.
Where the lessons happen
In a properly equipped small studio: a professional piano, studio monitors, microphones and the option to record. Eszter's lessons are also available online.
It also makes a gift
If you know someone who has been saying for years that they would love to learn to sing and never gets round to it: you can give them a lesson. The voucher is for a ninety-minute session and, on request, comes with a message for the occasion — a birthday, an anniversary. Write to us and we will sort out the details.
If you want to come
Write to us and we will find a time that fits. Eszter teaches students aged 16 and over. You can read more about Eszter and how she teaches on her own website.
